Front Line Officers arrest man with loaded crime gun in the ByWard Market

(Ottawa) – Frontline patrol officers arrested a man with a loaded crime gun Sunday morning in the ByWard Market.

Officers were called at about 1:50 am for an assault with injuries at a business on Dalhousie St. They were searching the area for the suspect when they saw a man matching his description armed with a firearm, chasing two men in a nearby parking garage. 

After a brief foot pursuit, the man was arrested without incident.

Abdo Ahmed YUSSUF, 31 years old, of Ottawa, was charged with:

Pointing a Firearm x 2
Careless Use of a Firearm
Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to the Public
Carry a Concealed Weapon
Assault
Unlawful Possession of a Prohibited Firearm
Possession of a Loaded Firearm
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime

YUSSUF was scheduled to appear in court on November 7, 2021.
