Free Online Prenatal Program celebrates one year supporting local families

Region of Waterloo Public Health has just marked the one year anniversary of its free online prenatal program. More great local and up to date information has been added, for Waterloo Region parents-to-be on prenatal care and resources. The program also hit a milestone of 700 participants out of a first baby cohort of approximately 3000, and Public Health is encouraging more expectant parents – not only first time parents, but all expectant parents – to explore this interactive tool.

“Local parents-to-be told us they wanted access to reliable web-based information with local content,” Sue Morris, Public Health Manager of Reproductive Health and Healthy Family Dynamics says. “This program fills this need.”

For individuals who have just found out they or their partner are pregnant, there is a lot to learn about keeping healthy, getting ready for childbirth and taking care of a new baby. Finding up to date information that is local and available 24/7 over a nine month time period can be a challenge. Public Health’s online module provides an exciting new way to learn, whether you are first time parents, have a challenging schedule, are on bed rest or need a refresher. It is interactive, includes animated illustrations, games, over 70 videos, audio content, and links to the latest researched information on healthy pregnancy and your new baby.

Expectant parents can register for free at www.regionofwaterloo.ca/onlineprenatal.
