Flu Activity Continues

Influenza activity has begun to slow down in Waterloo Region, but there is still flu circulating locally and flu activity is on the increase in other parts of Ontario.

Dr. Hsiu-Li Wang, Associate Medical Officer of Health for Region of Waterloo, encourages people to take advantage of the last two public health flu clinics of the year. ‘We have a flu clinic Wednesday, January 3rd at our Waterloo office (room 508) from 2-8:00 p.m., and on January 10th at our Cambridge office at 150 Main Street, from 2-8:00 p.m. Flu shots are also available from family physicians, and at many local pharmacies and workplaces. We will continue to see flu activity for a while yet, and the best way to protect yourself and your family, is with a free flu shot.”

To date there have been 230 confirmed influenza cases, and 5 deaths where influenza was at least a contributing factor.
