Final week for Cambridge Pinebush vaccination clinic
Waterloo Region –This is the final week for the Cambridge Pinebush vaccination clinic that was set up as a temporary location to deal with an expected surge in demand for the new bivalent vaccines. Now that it is no longer needed, Public Health will return to operation of the regional vaccination clinics and mobile community outreach.
Appointments are still available and walk-ins will be accommodated at the Cambridge Pinebush vaccination clinic until Sunday, November 6. Afterwards, anyone 12 years of age and older who is eligible for the bivalent booster dose will still be able to get it from many participating pharmacies and doctors’ offices: Get a Vaccine – Region of Waterloo.
The COVID-19 bivalent vaccine has been recommended as a booster dose six months after the previous dose (or at a minimum of three months with informed consent). A booster dose will provide added protection against COVID-19 this fall and winter when the transmission of COVID-19 is expected to increase. The bivalent vaccine has been shown to trigger a strong immune response against the original Omicron virus strain (BA.1) and its subvariants (BA.4 and BA.5). More information about recommended intervals following COVID-19 infection is available at: COVID‑19 vaccines | ontario.ca.
The Regional COVID-19 Care Clinic, also located at 66 Pinebush Road in Cambridge and run by Waterloo Region’s three hospitals, will still be in operation after the Cambridge Pinebush vaccination clinic closes at the end of the week.
