Film Project - Wednesday, February 28th, 2018

We are very excited to be welcoming some old friends back to the Galt Core area on Wednesday!

The Handmaid's Tale will be returning to the Main Street Bridge and Cambridge Farmers’ Market to film scenes for their upcoming second season on the above noted date.  This project will not involve any special effects or road closures, however intermittent traffic control (ITC) will be undertaken on both Water Street North and Grand Avenue in the vicinity of Queens Square.  The ITC will be controlled by Paid Duty Officers from WRPS and stoppages will be held to a maximum of 3 minutes per incident, with time allowed for traffic clearance between stoppages.  Both the Market and Main Street bridge are considered “closed sets”, however, pedestrian access around the film area will be maintained at all times.

Our core area businesses will be open as usual, so we encourage you to stop in and see everything that Galt has to offer.

Project Impacts:

  • Intermittent traffic stoppages on Grand Avenue and Water Street in the vicinity of Queens Square/Main Street Bridge (between 9am and 3pm)
  • Full closure of the Market Lot
  • Reduced parking in Queens Square
  • Reduced parking at Galt Arena

Our office is working hard to ensure this is an enjoyable experience for all and we are open to feedback!  Should you have any suggestions, questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact our Economic Development Division at (519) 740-4683.
