Elmira Children's Centre moves to Riverside Public School, providing children with a continuum of early learning and care
Waterloo Region – On December 12, the Elmira Children’s Centre will begin operating at its new building that will soon provide families with one location for licensed child care, education, and support services.
The Children’s Centre is moving to 250 William Street and will occupy close to 10,700 square feet on the first floor. It will share the building with Riverside Public School, the Elmira Community Nursery School and the Family Centre.
“A key benefit of the co-location is the school-service-partnership,” said Sheri Phillips, Interim Director of Children’s Services. “Moving Elmira Children’s Centre to the new location at Riverside School is an important step in supporting a continuum of early learning and care for children where their families will be able to access services in a familiar location.”
The new space will provide programming for the 31 children currently enrolled at the Elmira Children’s Centre and has the potential to accommodate future expansion.
The Region directly operates the Elmira Children’s Centre and is leading a collaborative of local service providers in the development of the Family Centre, which is expected to begin operating early in the new year.
