Don’t miss one-of-a-kind opportunity to get vaccinated this weekend - walk-ins welcome for first and second doses

Waterloo Region – This weekend, thousands of residents in Waterloo Region have an immediate opportunity to get an earlier second dose of the vaccine. Anyone who has an appointment for a second dose later this summer is encouraged to reschedule their appointment to attend “Every Dose Counts” this coming weekend at Bingemans Conference Centre in Kitchener.

Everyone is eligible for a second dose at an earlier interval. As long as someone received a first dose of an mRNA vaccine at least 28 days ago, they are eligible for their second dose. You can easily rebook your appointment for yourself, a family member or a friend: Book a vaccine

Please note, if your first dose was AstraZeneca, your second dose of AstraZeneca or an mRNA vaccine must be administered at eight weeks.

Thousands of appointments are still available this weekend at Bingemans Conference Centre, 425 Bingemans Centre Drive, Kitchener. On Saturday and Sunday, walk-ins will be welcome for first and second doses between 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. This is a great opportunity for more residents of Waterloo Region to get an earlier second dose and unlock the summer.

All public vaccination clinics are administering mRNA vaccines. Whether Moderna or Pfizer is available at a clinic depends on the vaccine supply that Waterloo Region receives from the Province.

If you choose to get a COVID-19 vaccine, you’ve made the most important decision. It doesn’t matter which mRNA vaccine you get – they’re like twins. Both mRNA vaccines are safe and provide strong protection against COVID-19 and the Delta variant.

You may have heard that you should get the same vaccine for your second dose. In fact, you can safely take either Moderna or Pfizer for your second dose, depending on what’s available and age eligibility.

If you are waiting for a particular vaccine, there is no guarantee it will be available when you book an appointment. The better choice is to get the first vaccine that is available to you.
