Construction notice: Victoria Street North Rehabilitation City of Kitchener — July 2, 2024

About the project

The Region is improving Victoria Street North by replacing the asphalt road surface, storm sewers, sidewalks, curbs, and gutters. They will also add new traffic signals at Victoria Street North and Ahrens Street, and upgrade the streetlights. A new multi-use path will also run from Victoria Street North and Weber Street West intersection to the Kitchener GO/Via Rail train station.

Timing — starts July 2, 2024

We are starting construction on or about July 2, 2024. The project is expected to be completed by December 2024. Construction will happen Monday to Friday between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. and occasional weekend/evening work may occur to complete the project on time.

Lane restrictions — Victoria St. North

Two-way traffic will be maintained on Victoria Street North with lane reductions expected.

Pedestrian access

The sidewalk on one side of the road will remain accessible at all times during the project. Pedestrians should follow the signs as they walk through the site.

Property and business access

All businesses in the construction area remain open and accessible during construction. Every effort will be made to maintain access to residential and business driveways in the construction area during working hours (7 a.m.–7 p.m.). Construction activities may temporarily impact access to entrances. We will provide notice of any interruption in advance as much as possible.

Please plan for some delays and travel carefully in the construction zone. We request that when driving or walking through and around the construction zone you follow and obey the construction traffic signage for your safety and the safety of the workers.
