Construction notice: Fountain Street South closed for storm sewer improvements Nov. 13 to Dec. 1

About the project

We are removing and upgrading storm sewers in this area to allow for additional storm water capacity. 

Timing

This construction will take three weeks to complete, starting November 13 to approximately December 1.   

Closures

Fountain Street South at Shantz Hill Road will be closed to through traffic.

Detours

The following detours will be in place:

  • D1 – South on King St. to the 401 West
  • D2 – Eagle St. to Hespeler Rd. to the 401 West

Traffic

We ask motorists to be please use the posted detours. 

Emergency Services (Police, Fire, and Paramedics) have been notified of the construction, closures and detours to minimize any disruptions to services.

Pedestrian access

The sidewalks in this area will remain accessible during the project. Pedestrians should follow the signs as they walk through the site.

Property and business access

All businesses in the construction area remain open and accessible during construction. Every effort will be made to maintain access to residential and business driveways in the construction area during working hours (7 a.m. – 7 p.m.). Construction activities may temporarily impact access to entrances. We will provide notice of any interruption in advance as much as possible.

Please plan for some delays and travel carefully in the construction zone.  We request that when driving or walking through and around the construction zone you follow and obey the construction traffic signage for your safety and for the safety of the workers.
