A broad coalition of community partners from across the region has sponsored the Wellbeing Waterloo Region Survey, currently available online. The purpose of the survey is to provide detailed information on the quality of life of residents in Waterloo Region. Data collected from the survey will be used by municipalities and community partners to inform priority setting and help improve the quality of life for residents in their communities.

Timeline

Residents will have an opportunity to complete the survey until June 8, 2018. The results will be analyzed and shared with key partners more broadly and with the public in late fall. Community leaders will then use the data in their strategic planning processes to help shape priorities and identify where change is needed most.

The Wellbeing Survey takes about 30 minutes to complete, is anonymous and will help direct change to achieve the highest quality of life for residents in Waterloo Region. Residents can take the Wellbeing Waterloo Survey at www.ciw.ca/WaterlooRegionSurvey. As an incentive, participants can win a prize for completing the survey.

Background Information

The Wellbeing Waterloo Region Survey follows the Canadian Index of Wellbeing (CIW) framework and will generate data designed to gather perceptions of residents concerning a variety of aspects linked to each of the CIWs eight domains of overall wellbeing: community vitality, healthy populations, democratic engagement, the environment, leisure and culture, education, living standards, and time use. The survey provides opportunities for assessing the degree to which various subgroups in the population compare on their wellbeing.

Wellbeing and quality of life is about:
• Being safe, healthy and feeling connected to the people and places around us.
• The quality of our neighbourhoods, parks and the natural environment.
• Being able to express ourselves fully and participate in the activities that we love.
• Access to food and shelter and having the necessities for daily life.
• The health of our community and our relationships.

 Survey Promotion

You can help us by encouraging your co-workers, clients you work with neighbours, friends and family to complete the survey.  There are many prizes that participants can win!  But the best prize is that the more surveys we have completed, the more we can learn about how to make this the happiest and healthiest community!
