Community invited to an information session by the Anti-Racism Advisory Working Group (ARAWG) on the implementation plan to eliminate systemic racism within the workplace and the services delivered by the Region

Waterloo Region – The Region of Waterloo Anti-Racism Advisory Working Group (ARAWG) invites the community to attend an information session to review the Region’s implementation report on their recommendations to Council related to the development and implementation of an Anti-Racism Plan to eliminate systemic racism within the workplace and the services delivered by the Region.

Following the Region’s Anti-Racism Town Halls in 2020, the Region of Waterloo announced the creation of an Anti-Racism Advisory Working Group. The ARAWG was created to provide recommendations, advice and information to the Region of Waterloo Council related to the development and implementation of an Anti-Racism Plan.

The ARAWG delivered its recommendations to council October 20, 2021 and five (5) recommendations have been aligned to the  core part of the mandate of the Region’s Offices of Reconciliation; Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion which includes community engagement, collaboration, and co-design with community.

In furthering the recommendations, the regional offices will continue to engage broadly and work alongside community to break down barriers and address systemic inequities through these recommendations. Implementation of the recommendations aligns with the “Healthy, Safe, and Inclusive Communities” and “Our People” pillars of the Region’s strategic plan.

The information session will take place on July 19 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
