City task force to host open houses on Cambridge multiplex location
Cambridge, Ontario. Aug. 23, 2016… The City of Cambridge is holding two public information centres to collect community input on choosing a location for the Multiplex, the city’s proposed new multi-use recreation facility.
The open houses will allow residents to review information on different types of potential sites and to provide input on how the City should balance different factors for choosing the site, such as transportation access, the timing of development and project costs. Representatives from the task force, staff and consultants will be on hand to respond to community questions and comments.
Participants will have the opportunity to provide input through a survey available in print, or online via engageCambridge (available until Friday, Aug. 26), or record short video clips with their thoughts. The input collected will help inform the multiplex site evaluation assessment task force as it develops recommendations for Council consideration related to a location for the proposed multiplex.
The first open house will be held on:
Date: Thursday, Aug. 25, 2016
Times: 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Place: Hespeler Arena, Beehive Hall, 640 Ellis Rd. W.
“This is an opportunity for the community to share what matters most to them. It is important to understand their priorities for the multiplex site” said task force Chair Chris Smith. “Engaging the community is critical for us to develop recommendations to Council.”
The second public information centre, is to be held on Thursday, Sept. 8 in the Bowman Room, City Hall and will follow the same schedule as the August 25 meeting. The task force will assess a variety of sites based on the community’s priorities and provide recommendations to Council this fall.
