City calls on local artists to apply to take part in annual art festival

Cambridge, Ontario. (February 13, 2023) – Calling all artists! The City of Cambridge is excited to announce that applications are now being accepted for the city’s largest art festival, Cambridge Celebration of the Arts, taking place on Friday, June 16, 2023.

“We are excited to offer this opportunity for local artists to share their talents with the community,” said Mayor Jan Liggett. “Not only is it an opportunity for artists, but there is a symbiotic relationship between the artist and their audience and I am looking forward to once again be part of the audience portion of that relationship. This festival is also a wonderful way to invite people to explore and enjoy our downtown, support local artists and connect to the unique surrounding businesses.”

“We are looking for applications from a wide variety of artists from the community, whether they are visual artists, literary or performing artists – all disciplines are encouraged to apply,” said Leanne Bond, Special Events Coordinator. “Following a review of the applications, the full line-up of selected artists will be shared on our website.”

There is no fee to apply or take part in the festival.  A panel of jurors will review all applications and those selected to participate will be contacted.

The application deadline is April 15, 2023.

Cambridge Celebration of the Arts is a free, full day art festival that takes place each year in and around Cambridge City Hall. It features more than 30 professional artists who inject colour, music, performance and life into the city.

Part of the festival is an awards ceremony that includes a Juror’s Choice Award and the public will have a chance to vote for their favourite artist in the category of People’s Choice. New this year will be the Cambridge 50th Award for the artist that best reflects this milestone in their work.
