Christmas tree collection in Waterloo Region (1)

Waterloo Region – Once again this holiday season, the Region of Waterloo will offer a special collection for natural Christmas trees.  The trees are chipped and composted with the Region’s yard waste.  To ensure curbside collection of your Christmas tree, please:

  • Remove all plastic bags, decorations, tinsel and stands.
  • Place your tree out to your curb by 7 a.m. on your collection day.
  • Cut large trees in half.
  • Do not place your tree on top of or behind snow banks.

The Regional curbside Christmas tree collection schedules:

  • For Cambridge, Kitchener and Waterloo – Christmas tree collection will occur from January 5, 2015 – January 16, 2015 on your regularly scheduled garbage collection day.
  • For Townships - Residents receiving weekly blue box recycling will receive curbside Christmas tree collection.  Collection will occur from January 5, 2015 – January 16, 2015 on your regularly scheduled waste and recycling collection day.  Please refer to your 2014 township calendar for details.

Trees placed out for collection before or after these dates will be collected as garbage.

Regional residents can also take their Christmas trees to either the Cambridge or Waterloo waste transfer stations for chipping (minimum $2 charge will apply).  Please call our customer service line at 519-575-4400 or visit our website atwww.regionofwaterloo.ca/waste for more waste management information.
