Chief Strategy and Communications Officer Announcement
Waterloo Region – The Region of Waterloo is pleased to announce that Connie MacDonald will join the organization as Chief Strategy and Communications Officer. In this new role, Connie will lead an integrated portfolio to help continue to advance communications, strategic planning, equity, and corporate performance at the Region.
Connie has held a number of diverse leadership roles across the public sector and also brings a wealth of expertise in planning and community engagement.
“Connie is well known as somebody who is passionate about our community and somebody who is focused on the wellbeing of the 600,000 residents of Waterloo Region,” said Chief Administrative Officer, Bruce Lauckner. “I’m thrilled that Connie is joining our leadership team as we grow partnerships to make this not just the greatest community in Ontario, but one of the greatest communities in the world.”
“I am excited to be joining the incredible team at the Region of Waterloo as it works towards a bold vision to build an inclusive, thriving, and sustainable region,” said Connie MacDonald. “I look forward to continuing to work with our local communities to build new partnerships and initiatives in support of local residents.”
Connie is currently the Director of Government & Community Relations at Wilfrid Laurier University. Prior to that, Connie was a member of the Executive Team at Ontario Health West and the Waterloo Wellington LHIN where she led a range of portfolios overseeing communications, community engagement and patient experience.
Connie holds a B.A. in Public Administration and Governance from Ryerson University and a Diploma in Public Relations from Conestoga College. She also currently serves as the Chair of Conestoga College’s Program Advisory Committee for Public Relations.
She will join the Region of Waterloo on December 7, 2020.
