Change your clocks, change your batteries!

Daylight Savings Time begins at 3 a.m. on Sunday, Mar. 11, 2018.

The Cambridge Fire Department would like to remind residents to take this opportunity to also change the batteries in both smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.

It is recommended to replace alarm batteries twice a year to ensure they are able to do their job properly. The early warning provided by smoke and carbon monoxide alarms can make all the difference in an emergency situation.

It’s the law to have working smoke alarms on every storey of the home and outside all sleeping areas. For added protection, the Cambridge Fire Department recommends to also install smoke alarms inside all bedrooms.

If your home has a fuel-burning appliance, fireplace or attached garage, carbon monoxide alarms must be installed outside all sleeping areas as well.
