Celebrate the Civic Holiday weekend in Cambridge with activities for the whole family

Cambridge, Ontario. Aug. 2, 2017… There is plenty to do this Civic Holiday weekend with a three-day folk festival, outdoor swimming, Cambridge Farmers’ Market and more.

Beginning Friday, August 4, the Mill Race Festival of Traditional Folk music will be running in downtown Galt for three days. This free event features folk music performances at multiple venues throughout the downtown core along with a children’s stage, crafts, food and vendors.

In partnership with the folk festival, the Cambridge Farmers’ Market will be hosting a morning of folk fun at the market on Saturday, Aug. 5. Shoppers can enjoy the sounds of the Ever-lovin’ Jug Band and Onion Honey while they browse great local products. The event also includes a children’s craft area. 

For child-friendly activities, make sure to visit an Idea Exchange location on Saturday, August 5 for activities including 3D printer basics at Queen’s Square, Stay and Play at the Preston location, and Circuit Circus onsite at the folk festival. Art lovers can choose from three exhibitions this weekend at the Cambridge Centre for the Arts and Idea Exchange. On display at the arts centre is The Grand: Perspectives and Motion, a collection of photographs by artist Jim Blomfield. Show.17 is currently on view at the Queen’s Square gallery showcasing the works of 15 emerging Ontario artists and Design at Riverside is hosting Streaming Edision: 12st Century Luminescence, an innovative lighting exhibition using unique materials, forms and technical prowess.

Residents can also take advantage of the summer weather this weekend by cooling off at one of the city’s outdoor pools or spray pads. Outdoor pools will be open all weekend running regular hours and programming. For swim schedules, visit www.cambridge.ca/swim.
