Celebrate fall and family in Cambridge over the Thanksgiving weekend
Cambridge, Ontario. Oct. 4, 2017… Spend a weekend with family and friends in Cambridge this Thanksgiving. Enjoy a fall hike, check out an art exhibit, and create the perfect family feast from fresh, local products.
Visit the Cambridge Farmer’s Market on Saturday, Oct. 7 to find everything you need for the perfect family meal. From roasts, hams and turkeys to vegetables, homemade pies and flowers, the market is a one-stop-shop for all the Thanksgiving essentials. The Thanksgiving weekend market will also feature activities for children including a corn craft and a Thanksgiving-themed recipe and colouring book.
For more weekend activities for children, Idea Exchange is running three programs on Saturday including Preschool Picassos at Clemens Mill, Stay and Play at the Preston location and STEM Storytime at Queen’s Square. For program times and details, visit www.ideaexchange.org.
For art lovers, Idea Exchange also has three exhibits on display over the weekend. Lisa Birke: The Knits is on display at the Queen’s Square gallery, introducing the relative notion of time and the unravelling of generational/familial relationships. Design at Riverside is hosting Carrot City Canada, an exploration of the connection between urbanism, design and food and how design can enable the production of food in Canadian cities. The Preston gallery is showcasing Dana Prieto: Ragged Along, expanding on Dana’s research around femininity and the stories that shape us.
With the leaves beginning to change colours, Thanksgiving weekend is the perfect opportunity to check out any of the 50 km of natural and urban trails throughout the city. The picturesque walks or rides along these City trails are a great activity for families and nature-enthusiasts alike. For a list of trails throughout Cambridge, visit www.cambridge.ca/trails.
