Canada Council for the Arts to meet Waterloo Region Arts Community

The cities of Kitchener, Waterloo and Cambridge, the Region of Waterloo, ArtsBuild Ontario, Region of Waterloo Arts Fund and the Impact19 Festival are welcoming Canada Council to Waterloo Region on September 27 and 28, 2019.  Federal funding is available to support Waterloo Region artists and arts organization and Canada Council wants to see applications from under-represented areas like Waterloo Region.

Program officers from the Canada Council will be here to meet with local artists to provide insights into their funding programs and the types of applications that get them excited in the following sessions:

Friday, September 27, 2019, 11 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Region of Waterloo Council Chambers, 150 Frederick Street

Attendees are encouraged to bring a lunch and participate in both sessions!

• Info Session + Q&A, 11 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

This presentation will help artists navigate the Canada Council grant application process, as well as provide an overview of grants available to artists working across artistic fields of practice.

• Grant Writing Workshop, 2:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.

This workshop will provide expert tips on how to submit stronger applications, while engaging participants in practical exercises on the grant writing process.

Saturday, September 28, 2019, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Kitchener City Hall, DTK 220, 220 King Street West

• One-on-one meetings, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Artists and representatives from arts groups or organizations can sign up for 20-minute individual meetings with Canada Council staff.

These various opportunities will help artists and arts organizations to: 

• find out more about a pilot project dedicated to new and early career artists;
• learn about programs at the Canada Council for the Arts; and;
• get advice on how to prepare grant applications and understand how applications are assessed.
