Cambridge Arts Festival fuses art and technology to create a one-of-a-kind experience

Cambridge, Ontario. July 18, 2017… Celebrating its 22nd year, the Cambridge Arts Festival fuses art and technology for a unique interactive art experience. The festival is set for Saturday, July 22 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and is sure to inspire both art and technology lovers of all ages.

The Cambridge Arts Festival Market is expected to line over two blocks of vendors selling a variety of work ranging from painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, mixed media, and street art.  The event also features a silent auction with a number of items to bid on including donations from Long & McQuade, Cambridge Mill, and over 20 works of art from various exhibiting artists. Bidding will close at 6 p.m. on the evening of the festival.

Among many new features, this year’s festival includes a one-of-a-kind interactive life-size book installation brought to you by the Cambridge Arts Festival (CAF) Collective. The installation depicts popular Cambridge landmarks, and festival-goers will have the opportunity to participate in print making workshops and add their prints to the book throughout the day. Local artists, Wendy Campbell, Lizzie Gosse-Steinberg, Karen Malcolm and Renee Therrien who are behind the installation are inviting community members to explore and participate in the interactive exhibit on Dickson Street during the festival.

The festival’s always popular maker lab is the largest of its kind in Cambridge and promises to be even better than last year with more creative technology and environment-themed activities including robotics, interactive video art, 3D printing, simple circuit lab, wrestling robots, virtual reality (VR) technology and more.

Perfect for the whole family, the recycle-themed kids zone offers children an opportunity to create using unique materials along with face painting, colour station, balloon art, magic, sidewalk chalk, giant Jenga, book swap and so much more.

The E-Bolt music stage kicks off at 10 a.m. with live performances by the Warrior Band, Adam Munce, Blue Future, Saluna, and Runaway Nation to name a few of the many performances throughout the day-long festival.
