Calling the Region just got easy

Waterloo Region – The Region of Waterloo celebrated the public launch of a new single phone number today, and other service enhancements that will make it easier for citizens to access Region services.

By creating one main number to access all Region services, supported by a new call centre, citizens now have: 

• simpler access through a single number;
• extended service hours (24/7);
• less call transfers.

“We currently receive approximately 800,000 calls a year.  This new easy number will make services more convenient for citizens,” says Regional Chair Ken Seiling. “Now we can take calls 24 hours a day, seven days a week and a real person will always be there to answer questions.”

While many citizens connect with the Region through website and email, the phone is still the main point of contact.  “Residents told us they want services that are easy to access,” says Mike Murray, CAO, Region of Waterloo. “A 24 hour call centre supporting one easy number to call will improve service and more importantly, citizen satisfaction.”

The Region’s most frequent calls pertain to waste management, public health, housing and roads.  An awareness campaign to help citizens learn the new number of 519-575-4400, also kicked-off today.
