Artist in Residence at the Ayr Branch Library

(Waterloo Region) -  The Ayr Branch of the Region of Waterloo Library is excited to announce the launch of its first annual Artist in Residence program. This new initiative will encourage the enjoyment of art and culture in North Dumfries Township and the greater Waterloo Region. “The purpose of the Artist in Residence Program is to provide artists and performers with an opportunity to engage the community through the artistic and creative process. We know there is a tremendous amount of artistic talent in our community, and we’re excited to provide a venue for it,” says Lucille Bish, Director Cultural Services, Region of Waterloo.

The first Artist in Residence will be a bridge between the residents of North Dumfries and the artistic community. The chosen artist will engage local residents with workshops, cultural displays, exhibitions and performances. Kelly Bernstein, Acting Manager, Public Services at the Region of Waterloo Library says, “The Artist in Residence will offer experiences that are unique and different from existing programs in Waterloo Region.”

Professional artists from all disciplines are welcome to submit an application and a jury will make the final selection. The chosen artist will be based in the Ayr Branch Library and will provide a variety of artistic programs from January to June 2016.

Applicants may begin submitting applications on July 2, 2015. Interested artists can download an application at www.rwlibrary.ca or pick up a print copy from the Ayr Branch Library. The application includes information about submission requirements, program details and monetary compensation. Please mail, or drop off in person, all applications to the Ayr Branch Library. Deadline to apply is Friday, August 14, 2015.
