Acquisition of Kitchener-Waterloo Field Naturalists Archives

Waterloo Region - The Region of Waterloo Archives has acquired the archives of the Kitchener-Waterloo Field Naturalists.

The records were created from 1934 to the present and include minutes of meetings, annual reports, newsletters, field observation notes, and bird count records. The Kitchener-Waterloo Field Naturalists have remained active in protecting and preserving wildlife, conservation, and supporting public interest in nature.

Kitchener-Waterloo Field Naturalists President, Fraser Gibson notes that,
"KWFN has been very fortunate to have a dedicated member act as archivist for many years. Now, having our 77 years of accumulated records housed at the Region of Waterloo Archives ensures their safe keeping as well as providing an opportunity for their broader use."

Descriptions of the archives are accessible on the Region of Waterloo Archives database Archives Online http://row.minisisinc.com.

The Region of Waterloo Archives is the official repository of the records of the County of Waterloo (1829 – 1972), Regional Municipality of Waterloo (1973 – present), Township of Woolwich (1851 – present) and Town of Elmira (1886 – 1972). The functions of the Archives are to acquire and preserve records of archival value, to facilitate access to the records, and to support the development of the archival community in Waterloo Region.
