5-11 year olds eligible for booster dose of COVID-19 vaccine

Waterloo Region – Starting tomorrow, families with children between the ages of 5-11 who have been waiting for a booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine can book an appointment for their next dose. A booster dose is recommended six months after completion of a primary series. The first appointments will be available on Friday, September 2.

While we continue to experience the seventh wave, anyone with an underlying medical condition is also encouraged to stay up to date with the recommended number of vaccines.

Anyone who is eligible for another dose of the vaccine is encouraged to get it from their local pharmacy or family doctor. Appointments are also available at regional vaccination clinics. An appointment can be booked online at covid-19.ontario.ca/book-vaccine.

“As we head into respiratory illness season this fall and winter, protect yourself by staying up to date with vaccination, wear a mask in crowded or poorly ventilated spaces, and please stay home when you are sick,” said Dr. Hsiu-Li Wang, Medical Officer of Health. “COVID-19 and flu vaccines will help reduce the risk of severe illness, hospitalization and admission to the ICU.”
