4th Annual ECOFest
“Reduce your environmental footprint one step at a time”
ECOFest is a family-oriented, fun and free event that will be held at the Waterloo Region Museum on Saturday June 4, 2010 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. At ECOFest, visitors can experience what this community has to offer in terms of green living, through hands-on activity centres, interactive displays, the newest innovations and children’s musical entertainment.
ECOFest is a fun-filled day to celebrate our environment with plenty for kids and adults alike, including environmental and science-themed hands-on activities and a green marketplace of ideas for the whole family. The Bullfrog Power supported event features free horse drawn wagon rides, a Water Wagon for water bottle re-fills and a free shuttle bus from Fairview Park Mall to Waterloo Region Museum to mitigate vehicle travel on event day! GRT is also offering a $5 GRT Family Day Pass for families wanting to travel green all day.
The ECOFest challenge for visitors is to find a minimum of three easy practices that will help reduce their household footprint. Before they leave they can pick up a loot bag with information, tips and tools to help them accomplish this at home. All visitors are eligible to win one of the many door prizes.
Local radio personality Carlos Benevides of 91.5 The Beat will be on-site during the day to greet visitors and try his hand at some of the activities.
ECOFest began in 2008 as a partnership of local municipalities and environmentally-focused agencies and businesses with the hope of empowering residents of Waterloo Region with all of the tips, ideas and knowledge they need to reduce their own costs and environmental footprint by making simple and sensible lifestyle changes.
So bring your water bottles, take the shuttle and enjoy a fun-filled day as you wander the museum “reducing your footprint…one step at a time.”
