Ridley Road EA and Reconstruction

The City of St. Catharines conducted a study to determine the preferred road cross section to build on Ridley Road between Louth Street and Henrietta Street, south of Ridley College.

A virtual public information centre has concluded.

The project scope has been combined with the St. Paul Street West CN Rail Bridge replacement, GO Station access road from Ridley Road, and the train station / transit hub site works under the Niagara Region GO Station Precinct Development Project 2023-T-249. Rankin Construction Inc. was awarded the project in August 2024 and construction started in October 2024.

More information and project updates can be found on the Niagara Region website linked below:

Purpose

Ridley Road is planned for reconstruction to anticipate additional work for the proposed GO Station Site upgrades and future residential development.

Study scope

Each alternative cross section was analyzed and evaluated based on the potential impacts to the natural, social, cultural and economic environments. The preferred road cross section was selected in consultation with the public, stakeholders and external agencies.

This project was planned with the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment process.
