Port Dalhousie Secondary Plan Study

The City of St. Catharines conducted a Port Dalhousie Secondary Plan Study to guide commercial and residential development in the area. The study supports two plans that were developed after extensive public consultation.

• Port Dalhousie Commercial Core and Harbour Area Secondary Plan
• Port Dalhousie Commercial Core and Harbour Area Heritage Conservation District Plan

Purpose

These plans provide guidance to the Port Dalhousie Commercial Core and Harbour to help improve built form, land use, public space, heritage, transportation and parking. The plan is built on the following principles:

• connect with the waterfront

• Protect and enhance the character
• Improve connections to the lake's and harbour's edge
• Create a place for business
• Conserve our heritage
• Celebrate what we have
• Make it easy to move around
• Enhance and enliven the open space and harbour areas
• Instill design excellence
