Black History Month

The Black community has a rich and storied past in St. Catharines. We celebrate Black History Month annually with various interpretive programs, including tours, film screenings, lectures and talks, and our annual Black History Month blog series. Family Day at the Museum

Family Day at the museum is an exciting day of activities and tours that everyone of any age can enjoy. The most popular staple of our Family Day event is the behind-the-scenes guided tours of our collection vaults. Watch the Museum Calendar for details and information.

PD Days at the Museum

Come hang out with us at the Museum on your next PD Day. Interactive programs keep young minds engaged in a fun way, even on their day off. Check the event calendar for program schedules.

Community Walks

Explore the foundations of our community with a Community Walk! These guided walking tours are led by expert museum staff who are filled with stories of the past and take you to where history happened. See the City's built heritage up close and learn more about the history of your neighbourhood! Tours include:

  • Walking tours of Victoria Lawn Cemetery
  • Walking tours of the Merritt Trail and other City parks and trails
  • Walking tours of downtown, Merritton, and Port Dalhousie

Events Calendar

Guided Spirit Walks at Victoria Lawn Cemetery

Since 2012, our guided walks through Victoria Lawn Cemetery have been enjoyed by thousands of spectators. Theatrical performances sharing the history of the City's most storied personalities bring those stories to life. Pre-registration is required. Tickets go on sale August 1. Family History Workshop

Learn tips and tricks from museum experts on how to care for your own family records and heirlooms in this two-Saturday workshop. Pre-registration is required. Watch the Museum Calendar for details and information.

The Mitten Tree Campaign

Help local families in need with donations of winter clothing to the museum's annual Mitten Tree Campaign. Bring a pair of mittens, hats, scarves, and other winter wear to decorate the Mitten Tree. This campaign benefits Out of the Cold and Community Care of St. Catharines and Thorold.
