Friendly URLS
You can create friendly URL website addresses in the i:Create Content Management System. A friendly URL is a shorter, more accessible version of a web page’s URL address. You can use friendly URLs when you want to direct people to your web page but cannot link them directly. This usually happens with non-electronic promotional material where full URLs need to be displayed, such as:
- Posters
- Signs
- Merchandise
- Radio ads
Friendly URLs shorten long URL addresses, making them easier to input manually. This makes people much more likely to visit your web page.

Create a friendly URL
Only i:Create users with admin access can create friendly URLs. Before you create a friendly URL, you need to copy the full URL address of the web page that you’d like to create the friendly URL for. From the backend in i:Create, follow these steps to create a friendly URL:
- Open the “More +” menu located at the top of the page
- Select “Friendly URLs” from the dropdown menu. You will see a list of existing friendly URLs with options to edit or delete them.
- Select the “Add” button
- Paste the long form URL you copied into the “Long URL” box
- The first half of your friendly URL will display in the “Friendly URL” box. Enter a single word or short phrase that describes your target web page to complete the shortened URL. Use dashes between words, if necessary, not spaces
- Click the “Create” button
When you enter your friendly URL into your browser, it should now take you to your target page.
Editing and deleting a friendly URL
If you'd like to edit or delete a friendly URL, you can select the "Edit" or "Delete" button next to the friendly URL that you'd like to edit or delete.
When to use friendly URLs
Friendly URLs should only be used for situations when a direct link cannot be provided. They should not be used for navigation within your website or anywhere where you could use a direct link instead.
