Fees and Charges
The Regional Municipality of Durham provides various goods and services. All fees and charges are approved by Regional Council.
Please note that we round down cash transactions to the nearest nickel. Cheques and electronic transfers still use the nearest cent.
E-transfer payments
We're making payments easier. The Regional Municipality of Durham now accepts e-transfer payments for some services including child care, housing, long-term care, planning applications and waste management programs.

Please note: e-transfer payments for your water bill or Provincial Offences Act (POA) ticket are not available at this time.

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS)
- Durham Regional Police Service includes criminal information, incident and freedom of information requests and other fees.
- Transit includes transit fares by ridership type.
- Finance includes development charges based on building type and Regional services, processing fees and interest rate charged on overdue accounts.
- Water and Sewer User Rates includes consumption rates, service charges, connection charges and other fees.
- Health includes fees for paramedic (land ambulance) services, Environmental Health and Public Health services.
Community Growth and Economic Development Department
- Community Growth and Economic Development includes official plan amendment, rezoning, permit, inspection and other fees.
- Child Care and Early Years Division (CCEYD) includes child care and related fees.
- Family Services includes counselling and related fees.
- Services for Seniors includes fees for accommodation at Regional long-term care homes, Meals on Wheels and adult day programs.
- Environmental Laboratory include fees for sample testing and monitoring at the Region's Environmental Lab.
- Solid Waste Management includes drop off charges for various material at transfer stations and fees for blue boxes, green bins, backyard composters and garbage bag tags.
- General Services includes engineering fees, maps and design guidelines.
