Request a Waste Management Presentation
Community presentations focus on the importance of managing your waste using the five R's: Rethink, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Recover. Each presentation reviews Durham Region's Blue Box and Green Bin programs, while touching on some other programs and services.
Presentations can be delivered to adults or youth community members.
Request a Tour of the Durham York Energy Centre
We do not currently offer individual tours. When possible, individual requests will be grouped with other planned tours. Those requesting tours through community groups must be 19 years of age or older. Groups are limited to approximately 15 guests. Special consideration may be given to larger groups on a per-case basis.
When requesting a tour, please include which organization your group belongs to (if applicable), the number of participants in your group, dates and times you may want to come to the facility, and the length of time you have available. An average presentation/tour takes approximately 2 hours but can be altered to accommodate your group.
Please be advised that all participants must adhere to the following safety requirements during a tour at our facility:
- Long sleeves (can be a shirt, blouse or a jacket)
- Long, ankle length pants and socks (shorts, capri pants, skirts and dresses are not permitted)
- Flat, closed-toe shoes or boots (sandals and high heel are not permitted)
We ask that visitors bring a pair of wired earphones to use with our audio equipment to reduce waste produced at the site. Earphones will be made available for guest who are unable or have forgotten to bring their own.
