Tactical Paramedic Unit
The Region of Durham Paramedic Services Tactical Paramedic Unit plays a critical role in supporting the Durham Regional Police Tactical Support Unit in priority calls. These calls encompass warrant services, incidents involving armed or barricaded individuals, mental health crises, and situations with potential for violence. Tactical paramedics are required to engage in rigorous training, which includes rappelling, bomb suit removal, boat safety, weapon safety, and the maintenance of fitness standards. When not engaged in tactical operations they respond to 911 calls within the region.
