Building Permits

Some construction and development projects require a permit from the City's Planning and Development Department. Here are some examples:

  • construction work
  • tree cutting 
  • expansion/additions
  • change of usage
  • relocation of buildings or structures
  • demolition
  • excavation or backfill work
  • new electrical systems or changes to existing ones
  • new patios or decks
  • installation of signage
  • new fences
  • installation of pools with a capacity of more than 61 cm (24 in) of water
  • new plumbing systems or changes to existing ones

Please contact the Planning and Development Department before applying for a permit so that you have all the information needed for your application.
